National Institute of Technology-Patna seventh convocation ceremony Has been overed with 9 gold medalist

 

The students of the National Institute of Technology-Patna today shunned western attires for their convocation as they turned up wearing kurta-pyjamas and saris. They took their convocation pledge in Hindi. Even the director of the institute P.K Jain and  Vc Suresh Kant Verma was clad in a kurta-pyjama. This was the Seventh convocation ceremony of the Nitp.

The students this year  changed the convention of wearing colonial-era gown for convocation, to promote Indian culture and clothes.

709 students had received  their degrees at the seventh convocation ceremony of National Institute of Technology-Patna (NIT-P)  held at Gyan Bhawan in the city on Sunday. Of these, 519 degrees  to has awarded BTech students, 179 to MTech passouts and 11 to PhD scholars.

Altogether nine students, including five graduates and four postgraduates, had given gold medals on the occasion. These include Deepak Kumar (BTech: Civil engineering), Dasari Yashwanth (BTech: Computer science and engineering), Shivaji Kant (BTech: Electronics and communications engineering), Ankesh Kumar (BTech: Electrical engineering), Ayush Pathak (BTech: Mechanical engineering), Reshma Thankachan (MTech: Civil engineering), Sriram R (MTech: Electrical engineering), Sneha Mishra (MTech: Information technology) and Susmita Behera (MTech: Mechanical engineering).

Besides, Ajmal P S (Bachelor of Architecture), Shwet Mani (BTech: Information technology), Bhavana Shrivastava (MTech: Computer science and engineering), Aradhana Kumari (MTech: Electronics and communications engineering), Nazia Urus (MTech: Mathematics) and Suvendu Mandal (MTech: Physics) has received
 the certificate of excellence awards at the convocation ceremony.

While Bihar governor Satya Pal Malik had  the chief guest of the event, the guest of honour has All India Council for Technical Education's chairman Anil D Sahasrabudhe.

More than 300 students rehearsed the convocation ceremony at Gyan Bhawan on Saturday. For the first time, boys had weared cream-coloured kurtas, white pyjamas, jackets and turbans, whereas girls had with clad in cream-coloured saris and white blouses, instead of black graduation robes.
