First Ever Teacher Day Celebration in King Sejong Institute Patna.

North South East or West, Teachers have always been the best, A Day celebrated  at King Sejong Institute NIT Patna, 세종 학당 파트 나 최초의 스승의 날 축하 행사

Who can forget the timeless dedication of a teacher?
With virtues of never-ending wisdom, patience, and perseverance, he or she has been our guiding light through every step of the journey we call life. Whether a teacher is with us or not, the positive mark that he or she leaves in our lives always remains.

Every 5th September in the year a mobile start ringing unusually frequently, the beeps of Whatsapp Message & SMS arrivals recur at a high rate and at the college too, the sweet sound of “Happy Teacher’s Day!!” fall on already alert ears. A small function properly organized, well managed with a lot of emotional and funny cuisine but thinly attended, in the afternoon. Of course, for others, it is a holiday. But for students like us never ever forget to celebrate this auspicious day.

It is a special once in a year celebration, coinciding with the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the 2nd president of India. In honor of this great person, teachers all over are celebrated and revered on this grand day, cementing the mark they have had on our lives. From important moralistic values to quintessential life lessons that we have always persevered to preserve since our childhood days, the teachings of our teachers are never forgettable.
When Dr. Radhakrishnan was serving as a president, his students wanted to celebrate his birthday. He instead suggested to celebrate TeachersDay and since the first day was celebrated on 5th September 1962 and the era begans.

In today’s world where professional attitude is replacing emotional bonding in all walks of life, the teaching field cannot insulate itself in its entirety. But against all odds, I must say, some bonds survive. When you try your level best with utmost sincerity the students appreciate you. They may not express but they certainly remember you. They may not be in large numbers but that doesn’t count perhaps, because their affection and respect always overshadow the numbers.

We had all kinds of teachers but the one who caught our imagination was only a few. I found when I met Grace Lee Ma'am at the King Sejong Institute, Patna while attending a Korean language class to add one more language in my skills vessel.  It was her personality that reflected her unique character. She started teaching us later when I join the institute. She was very neat on that front as well. Nice handwriting, clear voice with enough weight, command over the subject and add to it a friendly approach, she is a teacher everybody just loves and respect. Another amazing part of her personality is that she never gets angry, she is always calm and beautiful but sometimes I feel she supports girls more, over the boys though I like her cognate character.

Whenever we went to her with our problem regarding  Korean languages her response was always positive, caring and assuring, inducing in us a feeling that our problems would definitely be addressed to. Talk to her, one would find a teacher with parental feelings but try defying the discipline, you would be facing the head of the Korean Institute.

Teacher's Day at King Sejong Institute NIT Patna in Nutshell

  • It was a normal day when I went to Korean class after my busy academics schedule, where I got to know that Mohini Di (My Senior at K-classes) is planning for Suprise teacher's day at our site.
  •  D-14 days to teachers day, Mohini Di proclaimed to all our juniors students about our plans. After exposing the event plan to all, I was so excited that the next day I started a new WhatsApp group without even asking her.
  • After adding more people we meet and adhere to Manas, Alwina, and Urvashi who were leading the group by publishing the notice, updating about online meetings and making strategies. They selected the conventional views of everyone in the community.
  • On the day of celebration, one of my junior (Rahul) called me to guide him so I didn't get any time for my personal appearance. I went to my college at 9 am and started working and guiding other juniors to complete their task in a precise way. Though I had the plan to visit all my 3 branches which came under my guidance i.e Phy, Chem and Maths but wasn't possible for me to attend all because of the insufficient time.

  • At 12 pm, All the teachers of our Chemistry department came and we gave them a standing ovation by a wishing them "Good Morning Teachers" in the same manner as we did during our school days. Ankit Saurabh started to host the event and we had a short interaction with our teachers and juniors. After the distribution of gifts and snacks, we captured some memorable moments and went to other departments for taking the blessing of teachers.
  • At 2:30 pm, I went to the Korean class, where Mohini di and her team had arranged an astonishing decoration and atmosphere for the celebration. I started to connect the projectors in laptop and assured it was working.
  • At 3:30 pm, Grace Lee Ma'am, Rachel Ma'am, Mideum Youn AKA Elliot, and Aareum Ma'am (Paul sir's wife) came along with her daughter Rua. We all students of Korean institute welcomed them by clapping and shouting  'Happy Teachers Day' at once. It was a joyful event overall.

Activities at Teacher's Day celebration

  1. We Cut the cake first and welcomed them enthusiastically, showed them our arrangements and decorations.
  2. Then we helped ourselves with refreshment.
  3. We had performances from our classmates at first Aanchal (Solo) showed her amazing dance, and Tanya Das AKA Dolly used to astound us with her excellent performances. Where Nilofer, Nidhi, and Swati performed a group dance.
  4. We played two games, Line charades (Korean Game) and passing the parcel which were a fun games but awful for me personally maybe because it was my very first experience.

  5. We showed them a video made by Mohini Di and our fellow students where they sent their messages and wishes to our teachers.
  6. We all danced together after the last group performance on Bollywood mashup (Mohini Di, Urvashi,Alwina, and Manas.
  7. Towards the end, we gave gifts to all our teachers and a very special guest of the day and captured those moments in our phones.
